Debra is the Executive Director of COSEHQ serving since 2000. She has overall responsibility and accountability for strategic planning, leadership, outreach, general management and both contract and operational administration.  She works directly with the COSEHQ Board of Directors and the COSEHQ staff to design and implement impactful mission-driven strategies for the organization.

Simmons 40+ years of experience includes clinical nursing, hospital administration, outreach, and both local and national healthcare program administration.  She has worked in healthcare settings in a number of different states: Utah (Intermountain Health Care), Hawaii (Kapiolani Medical Center), Texas (Memorial Hermann Hospital), Louisiana (Lafayette Woman’s Hospital), and North Carolina (Wake Forest Baptist Health/Atrium Health).

Raised in Utah, Simmons obtained both her BS in Nursing and MS from the University of Utah. From 1994-1995, she worked as a Robert Wood Johnson (RWJ) Health Policy Fellow in the Washington D.C. Senate office of Robert J. Kerrey (Nebraska) on both healthcare and welfare reform legislation.

In 1996, Ms. Simmons moved to North Carolina and joined the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center as the Quality Management/Disease Management Director to develop, coordinate, and implement disease management initiatives for an integrated regional network of physician practices affiliated with Wake Forest, working in this position until joining COSEHQ.

Jennifer Sloan is the Corporate Financial Analyst for COSEHQ. Jennifer manages the financial operations and reporting as well as serving as COSEHQ’s Compliance Officer. She is a Certified Public Accountant, licensed in NC, with over 20 years’ experience in public, private and non-profit industries. Prior to her work with COSEHQ, she served as Accounting Manager for Children’s Home Society of NC and Acting Finance Director for CenterPoint, a managed care organization overseeing Medicaid behavioral health services in NC. Jennifer brings extensive experience with Federal, State and private grant funding and compliance. She received her BS in Accounting from the University of North Carolina Charlotte.  She is a North Carolina native, currently living in Winston-Salem.

Alex Sheek, B.S. is the IT Director with COSEHQ. He is working with COSEHQ’s rapidly expanding database analysis and processing. Born and raised in Clemmons, Alex received his Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems from Gardner Webb College. His first five years of employment after graduation were with a computer consulting firm in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He then founded a successful IT consulting business in Clemmons, North Carolina which he developed and worked with for the next twenty years. Alex decided to join the COSEHQ team in 2011 as an exciting opportunity to work in the healthcare field and continue to expand his programming and data analysis experience.
